Letters of Gratitude

  • “I'm working with three DCS children in Pima county. All three have laptop computers from your organization. They were all thrilled to have them, and they use them for their schoolwork, as well as staying in touch with each other as they have different placements.”

  • "My youth is on the spectrum and was seriously declining in group care. Changes in medication didn't help. We realized his anxiety was due to long transports to and from his old school which meant getting home very late. There was a line for the house computers until lights out. My youth was overwhelmed about completing homework assignments. Your laptop has changed everything. He's getting his work done and nearly all of his anxiety is gone. THANK YOU!"

  • "My youth shared that riding the bus 3 hours round trip to get to the GED resource center to use the computers they had felt like a waste of time when he can be focusing on making money. A laptop was donated and he was able to complete his GED only 3 months later!"

  • "My young adult was transitioning to college and had been using his cell phone to apply for school, complete his FAFSA, and respond to other tasks and requests by the school. Not only would he need a laptop for college assignments, but just the application process was made more difficult with his lack of resources. Prior to having the laptop, he was determined to make things happen so he used what he had available and got the job done; not every youth is resilient and ambitious enough to think outside the box."

  • "My youth who received the laptop for college is very thankful and thriving more now that he has it."

  • “My youth will use this resource well as she will be expanding on her English. She also attends church and they will give her homework assignments to do. It will also allow her to have video calls with her parents as her mom resides in Guatemala and her siblings and father are in Florida. The laptop is a huge help to her everyday life and making sure her family connections stay intact.”

  • “We are all very grateful for the ability to get laptops for these children, who have so many challenges. It is wonderful to have this opportunity available, and I am very grateful for the generosity of all those involved in making this possible.”

  • "My youth lived in a group home that only had two computers, which were used by both youth and staff for homework, telehealth appointments, emails, notes, applying for jobs, etc. My youth struggled to make progress in her credit recovery courses when she had limited resources. She expressed her barrier and after a laptop was donated to her, she has already started to make significant credit recovery strides and may be able to graduate with her class as a result of the opportunity."

  • "Plenty of youth in foster care come from neglectful homes where education wasn’t a priority and when in foster care often move around and change schools. Having access to a computer supports their ability to get assignments completed and make up for their educational deficits. Thank you!"

  • "My young adult was able to complete his GED shortly after he received the donated laptop. He had been working on his GED for over a year and had to utilize community resources and his cell phone to get access to studying materials and take practice tests."

  • "I received a laptop for one of my teens that was in desperate need of one being she has monthly health issues that cause her to miss school. Now that she has her own laptop she is able to complete assignments from home when she is needing to."

  • "My youth is going to be aging out in a year this is a great tool for her to use for her college she plans on attending. Thank you for the generosity and providing a perfect tool for those children that are less fortunate to receive a laptop for their educational needs."

  • "We often make assumptions about people based on the effort we see, but resources (like laptops) really make an impact on one’s ability to thrive. We might think “it’s not that hard to just do the homework that’s assigned or apply to jobs, it’s all online now-a-days”, but access to the internet or devices to use the internet are privileges we often take for granted. I was able to see much progress and happiness from my youth that received laptops. It also gave me more perspective as a social worker for what we take for granted and how a simple tangible can open worlds of opportunity to those who receive it. I hope we can continue to impact youth and set them up for success with donations of laptops and any other resources that remove barriers to their success."

  • “I had a youth who gave up on school. Most her classes required their school work to be completed online, typed or completed work submitted electronically. It came to the point where she just simply refused to go to school. She figured that she would not pass anyway since she couldn’t even try to do the work as she did not have a laptop. I reached out to see if there was a laptop available for my youth and was able to receive one of your donated laptops. When it was present to her she squealed with joy. She told this case manager that she now has a chance to complete school and do something better with her life and go farther than what she thought was possible. This youth went from a failing student to a student who made A’s and B’s and even smiled as she was finally able to enjoy going to school.”

  • “Good afternoon,

I want to thank you for the laptop. I would’ve never been able to afford it myself It makes me so happy that I have one for school I’m going into nursing school and the top thing that they suggested I get for school is a laptop to help me take notes to help me read books that the teachers are going to give me to do labs at Grand Canyon University thank you so much!”

  • “I was able to deliver a brand-new laptop to Daniel, a young adult who will be entering EFC at the end of this month on his 18th birthday. He currently resides in a GH and has just graduated with top honors from HS. He will be attending SMCC start in August and did not have a laptop for his online classes. This would be an issue since his school is in South Mountain and his GH is in Glendale (and he does not drive). He was very moved by being able to receive the laptop and just kept smiling asking if it was really his to keep. I assured him it was.”

  • “Upon gifting Ariel with her laptop, she was very moved. She has recently started an online Medical Billing course to enable her to work from home and be able to care for her 2 young daughters. She was attempting to do the course using her phone and an old tablet. She was very grateful that she was able to be gifted this laptop and stated that it would make it so much easier to do her coursework and help in the future as she wants to be able to work remotely.”

  • “I am happy to voice the positive impact that receiving a laptop had for my young adults.  I had several that benefitted from these donations and saw increased motivation and success with schooling and securing employment.  I had some young adults attempting to complete online schooling and submitting job applications, via cell phone. There were others fighting for their group homes computer and sharing computer time with 10+other peers. Needless to say, these laptop donations have been monumental in their success with schooling and in securing employment. It has encouraged autonomy as well. Thank you!”

  • “Ababele was very excited to get her laptop, she shared that she will use it to do her assignment and also use it for job search.

Elijah has an old computer that it was not functioning, he was super happy to receive his new laptop. Elijah is planning to pass the military test and now he is capable to study for his test in his new computer.

    Thank you!”

  • "This laptop has been a great gift. It has transformed my college experience. It functions as a portable command center, enabling my completion of assignments and research papers.

Typing notes directly into documents is much faster than handwriting, particularly during lectures. Organization is simplified by neatly categorizing and making all notes, research, and project files searchable. Collaboration on group projects has become seamless, allowing easy access to shared materials with teammates, regardless of location and many more things. This laptop has kept me motivated and encouraged for my school."
